Jewish Family & Children's Service is accepting applications for a full-time LCSW/LPC/LMFT Clinical Therapist position. This Clinical Therapist position will focus on counseling children/teens, families, adults, couples/relationships, and older adults.  This position requires a Missouri licensure and a Master's Degree in social work, counseling, or psychology. 

This position is for 38.5 hours per week and requires a work schedule that includes mornings, afternoons and at least 2 evenings per week

JOB DESCRIPTION

  

CLASSIFICATION:  Counselor/Social Worker (MSW or other appropriate Master's Degree)

REPORTS TO: Manager Clinical Services, Manager - Senior Services, Manager-Community Based Services

 

SUMMARY:

Under direct, limited or consultative supervision, counsels clients requiring one or more forms of psychosocial interventions; interviews clients experiencing problems with individual, school and/or family adjustments; secures and evaluates applicable related information; refers clients to JF&CS services, community resources and other organizations. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In either a clinical or a field setting, provides counseling to clients as appropriate to the position; prepares treatment plans; provides crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
  2. Counsels clients individually, in couples, families, or in other small groups.
  3. Secures information on medical, psychological and social factors contributing to client's situation; evaluates these together with client's strengths and family support to formulate therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.
  4. Refers clients to JF&CS programs, community resources and other organizations as indicated; may determine or participate in determining client's eligibility for financial assistance.
  5. Assesses client progress and modifies treatment plans accordingly; communicates with and counsels family members as appropriate.
  6. Completes case record documentation and prepares reports; develops and/or reviews service plans and conducts follow up to determine quality and quantity of service provided client and status of client's case. Provides feedback to PQI Committee in summary form on results.
  7. Accesses and records client and community resource information, manually or using personal computer.
  8. Works as a team member with other professionals in delivery of care management services.
  9. Plans and facilitates community outreach and education activities as appropriate to the position; may serve as a liaison or consultant to community organizations and schools.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Masters degree in social work, counseling or psychology with experience directly related to the delivery of psychotherapy and/or social services.  Special expertise in one or more areas may be required.
  • Licensure as clinical social worker, psychologist or counselor is required.
  • Interviewing, psychosocial assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic plans and make individual modifications.
  • Experience in making classroom/community presentations.  
  • Knowledge of community support services and resources.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate and timely case record documentation.
  • Skill in gathering data, compiling information and preparing reports.
  • Skill in use of office equipment, personal computers and related software applications.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  1. Work is normally performed in either a typical inside office work environment, within the client home setting or in a school, camp or synagogue building.
  2. Average physical effort with some handling of light weights such as supplies or materials on an infrequent basis (10-15 pounds)
  3. There exists the potential for highly stressful and emotionally-charged encounters when dealing with populations served.
