Jewish Family & Children's Service is accepting applications for a Communications Coordinator.  A Bachelor's degree in Communications or a related field is required. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing the Agency's media relations; writing newsletters, articles, press releases, advertisements and program materials; writing and posting social media and website content. 

This is a non-exempt position and will pay up to $25.60 per hour for 30 hours per week.

 JOB DESCRIPTION

CLASSIFICATION: Communications Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer (CDO)

SUMMARY:

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for managing the Agency's media relations; writing newsletters, articles, press releases, advertisements and program materials; and writing and posting social media and website content.  The Communications Coordinator will work closely with JF&CS Managers, Senior Management, as well as with the Board Financial Development/Marketing Committee.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft content for JF&CS website and social media platforms; press releases; advertisements; articles and program flyers.
  • Facilitate creation and distribution of donor and staff newsletters.
  • Liaise with local media and handle requests for interviews and statements.
  • Maintain JF&CS communications calendar.
  • Assist with drafting CEO communications to media, donors and funders.

 

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field.
  • Documented success in content development and media relations.
  • Experience with managing website content and social media platforms e.g. facebook, twitter, snapchat.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills high quality, prolific, attention to details and meets deadlines.
  • Skilled in use of computers including: MS Word, Publisher and Powerpoint
